Please follow the 6 steps to enroll your child in preschool in DPS.

Step 1: Know the Key Dates

January 5, 2009 - January 30, 2009. Accepting first round of preschool (ECE) applications for 2009-2010. Applications will be available in all DPS elementary school offices or they may be printed from this website. Parents can apply to any school in the district and receive a seat based on a lottery (with neighborhood children receiving first priority) if more applications are received than there are spaces available.

Parents will receive notification of acceptance beginning March 2, 2009.

Parents must relinquish the awarded spot by March 31, 2009. By applying, you acknowledge acceptance of seat (if a seat is awarded) unless you return a relinquishment form in writing to Tuition-Based Programs. Relinquishment form and envelope provided in your acceptance packet.

Parents will receive notification of waitlist status beginning March 9, 2009.

March 2 - August 2009 (Exact dates to be determined). Accepting second round of preschool (ECE) applications for 2009-2010 school year. Parents of preschool children may still apply to any school in the district, though seats are given on a first-come, first-served basis after first round applicants have accepted. Schools may hold some spots for children who live in the school's attendance area.

Schools will send to parents notification of acceptance on a rolling basis.

Once awarded a spot, parents must relinquish their spot within 10 days of receipt of notification of awarded spot. of notification of acceptance. By applying, you acknowledge acceptance of seat (if a seat is awarded) unless you return a relinquishment form in writing to Tuition-Based Programs. Relinquishment form and envelope provided in your acceptance packet.

Apply early! Seats fill up fast!

Step 2: Find a School

To find a neighborhood school, or any district school, visit the map and browse through DPS locations. Click on a school name or map pin to view individual preschool options or click on a specific program type to see where that program is available in your area.

For information on enrolling a child in the 3 year old program, these schools offer programs.
