Goals and Mission

MISSION STATEMENT

 The Mission of the Early Education Department is to actively support The Denver Plan by providing and supporting quality Early Care and Education for young learners, parents and families across all segments of the City & County of Denver in order to build a foundation that acknowledges both diversity and uniqueness and enables all children to be successful life-long learners.

Statement of Purpose

The Early Education Department provides and supports quality learning through comprehensive services to children and their families in community and/or district settings.

Goal Statement:  Develop Literate Students

1.      Provide opportunities for the development and acquisition of oral language and pre-literacy skills in young learners.

• Emphasis on the areas of development that support foundational skills and knowledge such as:

¤         Oral language;

¤         Social/emotional;

¤         Motor;

¤         Cognitive.

2. Expansion of the role of families/community in the child's successful learning experience.

á        Provide a system of training, services, and communication that enables families to support literacy development in young learners.

á        Create a network of communication that will involve all aspects of community in the process of Early Care and Education.

á        Provide community educational services that facilitate an understanding of the expectations of school.
