ECE Parents

Parent involvement is a critical component of Early Childhood Education. A child's education is maximized when the teacher and parent support the child as a team in the educational experience. Parents are actively encouraged to be a partner in the Early Childhood Education experience with their child. A variety of parent involvement opportunities are provided to fill the needs of families and to offer parents a broad spectrum of experiences in the educational environment. The program is designed to include:

  • Parent meetings
  • Telephone contacts
  • Parent volunteer experiences
  • Classroom visitation opportunities
  • Parent/teacher conferences
  • Parent visits

Parent meetings are an important part of this process bringing families and teaching staff together to stimulate parental interactions and discussions about their roles in their child's education. Parent meetings are structured so that parents provide input through a needs assessment that influences the types of information they will receive. These sessions are designed to help parents:

  • stimulate their child's cognitive development,
  • provide a rich emergent literacy environment,
  • support their child's school success
  • become a partner in school efforts,
  • expand parent options for personal worth and success, and
  • focus on education concerns identified by the parents.
