About

The Homeless Education Network (HEN) supports students to reduce barriers to educational success.

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (Title IX, Part A of ESSA) is the primary piece of legislation related to the education of children and youth experiencing homelessness. Specific provisions ensure the enrollment, accessibility, and educational stability for students lacking a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.

Services include:

  • Identification of students

  • Immediate enrollment

  • Transportation services (depending on eligibility)

  • Referrals to internal and external partners

  • Unaccompanied youth FAFSA letters
