Language of Assessment Requirements for State Assessments
For PPF1 Multilingual Learners in ELA-S and ELA-S/E Classrooms at TNLI and Dual Language Schools
The purpose of Language of Assessment (LOA) Requirements is to align Language of Instruction and Language of Assessment, which allows PPF1 Spanish-speaking MLLs in ELA-S and ELA-S/E classrooms in TNLI and Dual Language (DL) programs to demonstrate proficiency in Spanish as they move towards bilingualism and biliteracy. Local and national data consistently show that students are better able to demonstrate proficiency in their native language and the language in which they are primarily instructed. They are also able to transition into English at higher rates of proficiency.
